every strand
has a story
roots is a free hair journal for women with textured hair. log your wash days, track your growth, and start seeing what actually works, using your own data instead of someone else's algorithm.
you're already tracking.
it's just scattered.
a note in your phone from last spring. forty photos buried in your camera roll. a product you loved once and can't remember the name of. you've been collecting the data all along. it's just never been in one place, in a form that could tell you anything.
what's inside
wash day log
log what you did, what you used, and how your hair felt after. the whole thing takes about two minutes.
growth tracking
progress photos and length measurements over time. the change you can't see week to week is obvious across six months.
product shelf
every product you've used, when you used it, and how it performed. no more buying the same bottle twice.
insights from your data,
not a stranger's
the more you log, the more roots can show you. patterns in your routine, gaps in your washes, what changed and when. these come from your own history, which means they're about your hair, not the average of everyone else's.
for every texture,
every journey
roots is built for women with textured hair, whatever that looks like for you. curly, coily, wavy, loc'd, relaxed, or in the middle of growing something out. you don't need to know your curl pattern to start. what the people here have in common isn't a hair type. it's paying attention, and wanting proof of what's working.
your hair data stays yours
your photos, your notes, and your hair profile are never sent to analytics. we don't use advertising sdks, we don't sell data, and we don't track your location.
if you want to contribute to research on how textured hair grows over time, that's a separate opt-in that's off by default. it uses a research identifier that isn't linked to your name, email, or login. we call it pseudonymized, not anonymous, because that's what it is.
